New Maruti Suzuki Swift launched at Auto Expo 2018 – Price, Variants, Review
Maruti Suzuki India launched the third generation Swift at the Auto Expo 2018 on 8th February. The all-new Swift comes with a new exciting design, enhanced performance and advanced safety features for passengers, children in the car and pedestrians. The Swift is now peppier, and roomier!
Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki said that the Brand Swift is loved for its bold stance, strong shoulders and unmistakable road presence. Since its launch in 2005, Swift has been India’s favourite hatchback, selling over 1.8 million units. The new Swift is more spacious, it is loaded with new features that will thrill the customers.
What’s new?
For the first time, the Swift comes with the acclaimed auto gear shift technology as seen on Maruti Suzuki’s other offerings. It has a superior power-to-weight ratio as it is built on Suzuki’s innovative 5th gen HEARTECT platform. The new platform also gives it more strength and rigidity. Also new on the car is the single-aperture front grill complemented with an all-round seamless flow and sculpted body with strong shoulders. The wrap around windshield, along with the windows and the A and B pillars, extend to the back door glass and give a visual effect of having a floating roof.
The Swift gets new LED projector headlamps with a distinct design signature element on LED DRL and rear position lamp. It has some beautiful precision cut two-tone alloy wheels.
One of the most interesting things in this new Swift is that it comes with color coördinated interior theme accentuated by Urban Satin Chrome finish. The center console and instrument cluster are now better angled at the driver, making them easier to use than ever.
The new Swift has improved NVH levels. It now comes with a big 17.72 cm Smart Play Infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror link capabilities. Also integrated in this system is a wide-angle parking camera’s display. The SPI also has voice recognition with Indian accent English.
On the safety front, it comes with Dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX (child seat restraint system) as standard now. Numbers wise – the new Swift is 40 mm wider, has 20 mm longer wheel-base that created more cabin space.
One of India’s biggest question has an answer. Kitna deti hai? It offers the best-in-segment fuel efficiency for both the engine options; 22.0 kmpl for the petrol and 28.4 kmpl for diesel. It is now 98% localized. And that’s why it is priced so well.
Engine, Variants and Pricing
The all-new Swift comes in two engine options: Petrol 1.2L VVT and Diesel DDiS 190. The engines are now tuned for superior performance coupled with highly balanced suspensions for better ride and comfort. The variants and pricing was announced at the launch at the Auto Expo 2018. To be very honest, it is priced very aptly. Check out the pricing and variants in the image below.
Colors
It comes in a new Pearl Metallic Lucent Orange, my favorite Pearl Metallic Midnight Blue, Solid Fire Red, Pearl Arctic White, Metallic Silky Silver, and Metallic Magma Grey.

Review
The Swift is really more feature loaded, more stylish and more bang for the buck than ever. It can easily become your choice of hatchback if you planning to buy one in the market today. Especially the interiors are now more welcoming and spacious. It does get #thebestcarblogever’s recommendation! I’ll see if I do get the car for a Test drive review soon!

Would I choose the new face-lifted Elite i20 or this all-new Swift? Watch out for my post on the i20 also launched at the Auto Expo 2018 to find out!
