Detroit Auto Show 2016
As promised in my previous post, here are the best production/ production-ready Cars of the Detroit Auto Show 2016!
1. 2017 Ford GT
The 2017 Ford GT showcased at the Detroit Auto Show, is expected to go in production in late 2016. This is just one of the 12 Ford Performance Vehicles that will come by 2020. The Ford GT features a rear-wheel drive, a mid-mounted engine, and a sleek, aerodynamic, two-door coupe body shell. It is powered by the next-generation twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6, the most powerful EcoBoost production engine yet, producing more than 600hp.

2. 2017 Infiniti Q60 Sports Coupe
The 2017 Infiniti Q60 Sports Coupe is production ready and will be available in the following variants: 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine producing either 300hp or 400hp; a 2.0-litre gasoline engine that is turbo-charged to produce 208hp. The base model will come with an aluminum trim on the inside, with an option to choose black wood. The higher end models will be available with carbon-fiber highlights and an option to choose white or red leather seating. The Infiniti Q60S is like a really awesome comeback for Nissan’s luxury brand – as it was highly loved by critics starting from concept model itself carrying over almost every appreciated thing into the production version. The Q60S feels like one of the best cars ever from Infiniti till date. It has a really functional design that looks stunning too. In fact, the Q60S could easily be the car I would want to drive straight out of the Detroit Auto Show! 😀

3. The new BMW M2 Coupe
The first M line car in the 2-series for BMW was showcased at the Detroit Auto Show – the M2 Coupe which is a rear-wheel drive, high performance sports coupe. It is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder engine which produces 365hp (one for each day! 😀 – sorry for the bad joke). BMW claims the M2 can do 0-62miles (0-100kms) in 4.3 seconds and comes with a top-speed of 155 mph (250 kmph).

4. 2017 Chrysler Pacifica
The new Chrysler Pacifica (or Chrysler Town & Country as it was previously called) is one of the most significant launches for FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), as they have tried to reinvent the minivan segment they originally created. It is a attempt to make the minivan compelling again for the new generation. One important fact is that Pacifica will be available in both conventional and plug-in hybrid versions. There is a lot of new tech coming in the Pacifica – a 360 degree camera view, automatic parallel and perpendicular parking, forward-collision warning & mitigation, lane-departure warning & mitigation, rear backup sensing with automatic braking, adaptive cruise control that can bring the Pacifica to a complete halt and hold it there, and several other active & passive systems. Feels like the minivan is here to stay and gain a good number of sales!

5. 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor was originally unveiled at the 2015 edition of the Detroit Auto Show, and this year Ford has taken the chance to introduce the Raptor in its SuperCrew form. It is based on the aluminum-bodied F-150 SuperCrew. The Raptor SuperCrew rides on a 145.0-inch wheelbase—a foot longer than the standard SuperCab-based model—and has four front-hinged doors and the SuperCrew’s 5.5-foot bed. It is powered by the 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine, whose output hasn’t been disclosed by Ford.

6. 2017 Mercedes Benz E-Class
The E-Class finally gets the new design language that was originally seen on the S-Class back in 2014, which was later adopted by the C-Class last year. Called the “sensually purified” design language, the new E-Class unveiled here at the Detroit Auto Show might look much like its other siblings until you see the badge! It carries the new iconic “stardust effect” taillamps, futuristic LED matrix headlamps and the signature grill and windows. There are a few dimensional changes on the E-Class – 2.6 inches have been added between the axles and 1.7 inches overall. Height and width of the new E-Class are down a fraction of an inch. The wheel sizes are up to 19 & 20 inches. It will be offered in Luxury & Sport flavours.
What’s interesting here is that the new car comes with loads of new tech which not even available on the current S-Class! To name a few – semi-autonomous driving, autonomous lane changing, driver-supervised autonomous parking, the ability to use your cellphone as the key, highly improved auto-braking system.
The E300 is the first of the new E-Class cars that is confirmed. The others set to get the new E-Class treatment are the E63 AMG & a new powerful E450 AMG, as also plug-in hybrid & diesel versions. Also expected are the Coupe & Convertible versions too!

7. 2017 Mercedes Benz SLC
This is actually the SLK rebadged as per the nomenclature changes that Mercedes had announced at the end of 2014. The SLK badge will be dropped after being in use for close to 20 years. Since the SLK was close to the C-Class, it will now wear the SLC badge. In the 2017 edition unveiled at he Detroit Auto Show, it gets a facelift and a new powertrain. On the exterior, you have the updated modern grill, optional LED headlamps and new “sensually purified” taillamps. On the interior, most of the things remain the same with minor updates to the controls and trim. It will continue to possess the two features unique to this class – the Airscarf, a ventilator system that blows warm air at your neck, and a panaromic glass roof whose opacity can be changed at the push of a button.
The big update is under the hood – a twin-turbocharged V6 in place of the V8 in the AMG version. The SLK350’s 3.5-litre V6 is history. The SLK300 with the 2.0-litre turbo engine will return as the SLC300 producing 241hp. The SLK55 AMG will be replaced by the Mercedes-AMG SLC43, for which the pictures will do a better talking (Love the red!).

That new 2017 Ford GT looks amazing.
[…] the best cars which are in production or are production-ready from the Detroit Auto Show in my last post (check it out in case you missed it!). Now we’ll look as some of the best Concept cars from […]
I agree with One man and his Mustang. Plus I love the reflective color of the BMW. Well put together review of the show. Thanks for posting this.
New Ford GT reminds me of McLaren. It would be hard to pick, but I’d go probably for M2. Gotta love agile, fast cars for everyday use.
I agree!
