Ford Mustangs have been running this since quite a few months now. (They already have over 2,000,000 different customs made by their fans! Yes those are the correct number of zeros there!) You can go to this site: http://mustangcustomizer.comย  and start customizing your Mustang in your favourite color and style.
And by doing this you stand a chance to get to see your Mustang as ‘The Car of the Week‘ on their Facebook page, which they then use as their cover photo for a week.

While the customization options are as awesome as possible, they can vary from changing the color of the car to changing the car itself. Yes! You get to choose between which models of the Mustang you want to modify – a V6, a GT and lastly the powerful Shelby GT500.

The customization options work on various aspects of the car covering the color, the hood, the roof, the wheel, the bodykit, the door handle, the door trim, the fuel door, the headlight, the hoodpin, the louver, the side mirrors, the plate, the scoop, the side skirt, the spoiler and what not! (need to catch a breath now!!)

Well its fun customizing the Mustang according to your choice for free! When its all done, you can invite your friends to also create their Mustangs and compete with them.

Well, if you are still not convinced to try it out, you can have a look at Sid’s Storm! (my Mustang, you can name yours too!)

Skoda’s premium hatchback Fabia to phase out in India

Skoda Auto India is going to discontinue the production ofย  the Skoda Fabia for the Indian market. While the car isn’t going to be phased out suddenly, it is expected to be in production until August 31, 2013, when the company will finish assembling the remaining Fabia kits. Nearly 2,200 units will be then available, until the stock is cleared (expected by year-end).

The Skoda Fabia

The Czech car company, Skoda has taken this step because of the drastically falling sales figures and high rising production costs. Fabia’s annual sales figures have reached their five-year low of 3,343 units for FY13 (financial year 2012-2013); it sold only 115 units in April 2013. Sources from the industry have indicated that Skoda was incurring a loss of at least Rs 1,50,000 per unit for the past few months.

It was launched in 2008 and after nearly six years, close to 45,000 units of the Fabia have been sold till now. Its current price has come to be 40% lower than what it was when it was introduced in India. Still it wasn’t able to sell more cars because of the pricing strategy which positioned it above the segment leader – the Maruti Suzuki Swift.

No replacement is going to be seen for the Fabia, as Skoda will try to concentrate its resources and money on strengthening its models in the Sedan segment. A new Octavia is said to be on its way for the Indian market, which is expected to be launched during the festive season.

In the last 12 months, a few other cars have had to leave the Indian shore because of similar reasons. They are:

  • Chevrolet
    • U-VA
    • Aveo
    • Optra

*The Aveo and the U-VA have come to be replaced with the new SAIL and SAIL U-VA.

  • Honda Cars India
    • Civic
    • Jazz

*The Civic and the Jazz are said to be temporarily discontinued. Though we’ll have to wait to see when they will be reintroduced.

Later this year, Maruti Suzuki India is also expected to announce the stopping of the production of the Zen Estilo and the A-Star, while making way for a new model to replace the vacuum.

What comes after B?? C? No, Mercedes says A!

Well your logic (and your primary education will tell you ๐Ÿ˜› ) that C comes after B… But Mercedes has different plans! After launching the B-Class in India in September last year, Mercedes has decided to launch their A-Class on May 30, 2013.

The A-Class A180

While B-Class is currently the cheapest premium offering from Mercedes, with the price varying around Rs23-25 lakhs (depending on the variant), the A-class just might take its tag away. Prices of the A-Class are expected to start at Rs 22 lakh which is quite attractive if you can avoid thinking of it as just an ordinary โ€˜hatchโ€™ and have enough money too!

The current B-Class comes with a four-cylinder in-line, 1595cc, direct-injection, turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch box. A 1.8-litre diesel motor will join the petrol unit later this year. The B-Class has two cars in the current market, the B-180 and the B-180 Sport.

You can find the comparison here.

Unlike most other Mercedes on sale in India, the A-Class car is not well suited to being chauffeured around in (even I wouldn’t want to be driven around in this one ๐Ÿ˜› ) . With its confident profile and sporty roofline, the A-Class is targeted more at owner-drivers. Mercedes is hoping that the extremely youthful design of the car, the very modern interiors and its sporty driving dynamics will appeal to the young and the young at heart, just like it has done in Europe; where the car is currently a runaway success.

The A-Class A180 has got the Angel-Eyes!

When Mercedes launches the new A-Class at the end of May, the first pair of models to hit our shores will be the A180 CDI diesel (108bhp) and the A180 petrol (121bhp). The A-Class might not be an instant hit and a volume seller for sure, but the new A-Class will deliver many of the luxurious trappings of a Mercedes in a very attractive and modern package to those who opt for it…
