Volkswagen GTI (2017) Experience in Mumbai

Volkswagen GTI 2017 Experience in Mumbai

GTI – Grand Turismo Injection – it is an identity. An identity for Wolfsburg born motoring legend. The Volkswagen GTI stands for a sporting character, a powerful engine and maximum performance. Every car-maker has a performance wing, and this is Volkwagen’s performance baby finally making it to India. The Volkwagen GTI is here for the enthusiasts. It looks like another hatchback to those who are unaware of how GTI bagde changes the numbers for this particular car. This two-door ‘Creature of the Night’ GTI comes with a 1.8L TSI, 4-cylinder in-line engine, 1798cc of displacement generating 192PS of power and 250Nm of torque!

Check out the video below for a look at the interior of this crazy hot hatch!

Please like the video, leave your comments and do subscribe. This can help me know that I should make more videos related to cars! (Maybe motovlogging/ autovlogging in the future!) Irrespective of that, there is another video due – it covers the Volkswagen GTI doing some things you could only imagine! This is what is was meant to do – what else would you do with a hatch that can go 233kmph!! πŸ˜› πŸ˜€ Hahahaha! My #HangoutWithHonda Experience

The #Experience before the #HangoutWithHonda
Fri, Nov 8, 2013, 21:15

I was going through the usual round of checking my mail, that’s when I saw a mail that I should have had expected earlier in the day. I had completely forgotten that I had given out my email id the previous night to a person who contacted me through my blog’s Facebook page for some auto event.

#HangoutWithHonda
#HangoutWithHonda

I had received an invite for an experiential drive with Honda! So I was reading it and checked for further details. When was it going to happen? Nov 9. Where was it going to happen? Drive from Navi Mumbai to Lo.. Wait A Minute!! Nov 9! The day was to start in another three hours! (I say so because no time was mentioned in the Invitation)

I went to dad with my laptop, asked him to stop all his work and just listen to me! I showed him the invite and said that I wanted to go. He said no because I was gonna be on my own with unknown people, that too far away from home.. “You don’t even know whether they are real or fake!”.

Before I could speak up, I got my answer. And the real reason, I had college to attend for some placement training also the next day.

21:30

I calmed a bit, thought about the whole situation, weighed in all the profits & loss I would make depending on the decision I would take.
I had to deal with this situation now! I asked my dad if I could at least call up the person who mailed me the invite and get a few more details, what’s going to happen, what would I have to do, etc.

21:40

I got all the details & then had a 15-min long discussion with mom & dad, since this was the first time I got an invite to some event like this (because you guys read my blog so lovingly! Thank you friends! πŸ™‚ ) and I was gonna be on my own for the next day, IF they said yes.

22:00

Everything went well, I finally got the approval! πŸ™‚ I was super-excited now! So I called back and confirmed that I would join them. So did a quick review of what I would carry along tomorrow & then packed my bag. I went to bed early too (I don’t usually! πŸ˜€ )

The #HangoutWithHonda Experience
Sat Nov 9, 2013, 06:00 :

I was up early today and was waiting for my pickup car to come & take me to Hallmark Honda, Navi Mumbai, from where the journey would start.
I gotΒ  picked up at around 06:30 & reached the assembly area around 07:30.

Getting Ready!
Getting Ready!

All the CARS were getting ready for the drive. The CARS were being numbered, stuffed with some food for the journey, some goodies, the itenary, first aid kit, map to the destination.

09:00

It was scheduled to start at 08:00 hrs, but we finally got allotted our cars & started our journey by 09:00 hrs. And so we began our journey towards Aamby Valley City, Lonavala (our destination) inΒ  our cute-blue Honda Amaze (diesel)!

Yep! That cute blue Amaze #2 :)
Yep! That cute blue Amaze #2 πŸ™‚

We were briefed regarding the competition among the 11 Honda CARS (7 Amaze & 4 Brio), where the four teams with the best mileage from the four categories Amaze Petrol, Amaze Diesel, Brio MT & Brio AT, would win! πŸ™‚

(click on the above & below images to enlarge)

With me in the car were Deepak Amembal [@magic_eye] and Rohit Sane [@rohitsane].

Before reaching Aamby Valley, we took various halts, and one at the Tiger Hills point

Here are the journey pics:

We then continued our journey & reached our destination around 12:30 hrs.

We were joined here by the officials from Honda, who then did a presentation on Honda, what they do, the Amaze, the Brio, the diesel engine, etc. Here’s the video that we got to see over there. Do watch it!!

We broke out for lunch and then it was followed up with a bunch of games with the Honda CARS! Yep, two different games, one where we had to make an ‘8’ with the Brio followed by a reverse park to complete the track. Winners were decided based on the time taken to complete it.

The other game was kind of similar, we had to create an 8 again with the Amaze and do a straight reverse back to the starting line to finish the track. And here’s the twist, the Amaze would have a bucket securely taped in place, filled with water, on top of it. Winners were decided based on the least amount of water spilled, followed by the least amount of time taken.

We didn’t win either of the two games… But we did win the best mileage competition in the Amaze Diesel category! πŸ˜‰ It was a truly Amaze-ing experience!! Thank You Honda!! πŸ™‚

What comes after B?? C? No, Mercedes says A!

Well your logic (and your primary education will tell you πŸ˜› ) that C comes after B… But Mercedes has different plans! After launching the B-Class in India in September last year, Mercedes has decided to launch their A-Class on May 30, 2013.

The A-Class A180
The A-Class A180

While B-Class is currently the cheapest premium offering from Mercedes, with the price varying around Rs23-25 lakhs (depending on the variant), the A-class just might take its tag away. Prices of the A-Class are expected to start at Rs 22 lakh which is quite attractive if you can avoid thinking of it as just an ordinary β€˜hatch’ and have enough money too!

Th B-Class B-180
Th B-Class B-180

The current B-Class comes with a four-cylinder in-line, 1595cc, direct-injection, turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch box. A 1.8-litre diesel motor will join the petrol unit later this year. The B-Class has two cars in the current market, the B-180 and the B-180 Sport.

You can find the comparison here.

Unlike most other Mercedes on sale in India, the A-Class car is not well suited to being chauffeured around in (even I wouldn’t want to be driven around in this one πŸ˜› ) . With its confident profile and sporty roofline, the A-Class is targeted more at owner-drivers. Mercedes is hoping that the extremely youthful design of the car, the very modern interiors and its sporty driving dynamics will appeal to the young and the young at heart, just like it has done in Europe; where the car is currently a runaway success.

The A-Class A180
The A-Class A180 has got the Angel-Eyes!

When Mercedes launches the new A-Class at the end of May, the first pair of models to hit our shores will be the A180 CDI diesel (108bhp) and the A180 petrol (121bhp). The A-Class might not be an instant hit and a volume seller for sure, but the new A-Class will deliver many of the luxurious trappings of a Mercedes in a very attractive and modern package to those who opt for it…
