Detroit Auto Show 2016

As promised in my previous post, here are the best production/ production-ready Cars of the Detroit Auto Show 2016!

1. 2017 Ford GT

The 2017 Ford GT showcased at the Detroit Auto Show, is expected to go in production in late 2016. This is just one of the 12 Ford Performance Vehicles that will come by 2020. The Ford GT features a rear-wheel drive, a mid-mounted engine, and a sleek, aerodynamic, two-door coupe body shell. It is powered by the next-generation twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6, the most powerful EcoBoost production engine yet, producing more than 600hp.

2. 2017 Infiniti Q60 Sports Coupe

The 2017 Infiniti Q60 Sports Coupe is production ready and will be available in the following variants: 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine producing either 300hp or 400hp; a 2.0-litre gasoline engine that is turbo-charged to produce 208hp. The base model will come with an aluminum trim on the inside, with an option to choose black wood. The higher end models will be available with carbon-fiber highlights and an option to choose white or red leather seating. The Infiniti Q60S is like a really awesome comeback for Nissan’s luxury brand – as it was highly loved by critics starting from concept model itself carrying over almost every appreciated thing into the production version. The Q60S feels like one of the best cars ever from Infiniti till date. It has  a really functional design that looks stunning too. In fact, the Q60S could easily be the car I would want to drive straight out of the Detroit Auto Show! 😀

3. The new BMW M2 Coupe

The first M line car in the 2-series for BMW was showcased at the Detroit Auto Show – the M2 Coupe which is a rear-wheel drive, high performance sports coupe. It is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder engine which produces 365hp (one for each day! 😀 – sorry for the bad joke). BMW claims the M2 can do 0-62miles (0-100kms) in 4.3 seconds and comes with a top-speed of 155 mph (250 kmph).

4. 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

The new Chrysler Pacifica (or Chrysler Town & Country as it was previously called) is one of the most significant launches for FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), as they have tried to reinvent the minivan segment they originally created. It is a attempt to make the minivan compelling again for the new generation. One important fact is that Pacifica will be available in both conventional and plug-in hybrid versions. There is a lot of new tech coming in the Pacifica – a 360 degree camera view, automatic parallel and perpendicular parking, forward-collision warning & mitigation, lane-departure warning & mitigation, rear backup sensing with automatic braking, adaptive cruise control that can bring the Pacifica to a complete halt and hold it there, and several other active & passive systems. Feels like the minivan is here to stay and gain a good number of sales!

5. 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor was originally unveiled at the 2015 edition of the Detroit Auto Show, and this year Ford has taken the chance to introduce the Raptor in its SuperCrew form. It is based on the aluminum-bodied F-150 SuperCrew. The Raptor SuperCrew rides on a 145.0-inch wheelbase—a foot longer than the standard SuperCab-based model—and has four front-hinged doors and the SuperCrew’s 5.5-foot bed. It is powered by the 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine, whose output hasn’t been disclosed by Ford.

6. 2017 Mercedes Benz E-Class

The E-Class finally gets the new design language that was originally seen on the S-Class back in 2014, which was later adopted by the C-Class last year. Called the “sensually purified” design language, the new E-Class unveiled here at the Detroit Auto Show might look much like its other siblings until you see the badge! It carries the new iconic “stardust effect” taillamps, futuristic LED matrix headlamps and the signature grill and windows. There are a few dimensional changes on the E-Class – 2.6 inches have been added between the axles and 1.7 inches overall. Height and width of the new E-Class are down a fraction of an inch. The wheel sizes are up to 19 & 20 inches. It will be offered in Luxury & Sport flavours.

What’s interesting here is that the new car comes with loads of new tech which not even available on the current S-Class! To name a few – semi-autonomous driving, autonomous lane changing, driver-supervised autonomous parking, the ability to use your cellphone as the key, highly improved auto-braking system.

The E300 is the first of the new E-Class cars that is confirmed. The others set to get the new E-Class treatment are the E63 AMG & a new powerful E450 AMG, as also plug-in hybrid & diesel versions. Also expected are the Coupe & Convertible versions too!

7. 2017 Mercedes Benz SLC

This is actually the SLK rebadged as per the nomenclature changes that Mercedes had announced at the end of 2014. The SLK badge will be dropped after being in use for close to 20 years. Since the SLK was close to the C-Class, it will now wear the SLC badge. In the 2017 edition unveiled at he Detroit Auto Show, it gets a facelift and a new powertrain. On the exterior, you have the updated modern grill, optional LED headlamps and new “sensually purified” taillamps. On the interior, most of the things remain the same with minor updates to the controls and trim. It will continue to possess the two features unique to this class – the Airscarf, a ventilator system that blows warm air at your neck, and a panaromic glass roof whose opacity can be changed at the push of a button.

The big update is under the hood – a twin-turbocharged V6 in place of the V8 in the AMG version. The SLK350’s 3.5-litre V6 is history. The SLK300 with the 2.0-litre turbo engine will return as the SLC300 producing 241hp. The SLK55 AMG will be replaced by the Mercedes-AMG SLC43, for which the pictures will do a better talking (Love the red!).

✋ Hello 2016!

Hello everyone!✋ Sid here! Its time to kick start 2016, a new year for my blog and make it much better than 2015 (it was bad, just 2 posts)!

Anyways, without ranting much about the last year, lets get started with what lies ahead in 2016. Two things happen at the start of a new year, in India especially – 🏆 Bollywood Award Shows and Auto Shows! And its obvious where I and you would be interested in (and that’s why you’re here) – the latter one!

First of the list of Auto Shows happening around the world in 2016 is the Detroit Motor Show aka North American International Auto Show. I couldn’t go for the Auto Show (maybe next year, fingers crossed), but I’ll definitely summarize it in the next blog post (post #2 for 2016), highlight the best of the Detroit, and what got me excited. So watch out for that! The auto show is still going on until the 24th of January, so if anyone reading this post, staying anywhere close to Detroit hasn’t been to the Auto Show, go have some fun!

😍 Treat your eyes, 📷 click some pictures and 📩 send me some too!

Once I have the Detroit Auto Show covered in my next blog post, I’ll be starting preparations to attend my first Auto Show of 2016 – in person.

The Best CAR Blog Ever is ✈ going to the Auto Expo 2016!

It’s going to be an awesome year! Stay tuned, subscribe to my posts, like & follow my blog on Facebook, Google+ and Instagram (yes, we’re now on Instgram too!) so that you don’t miss out on any of the wonderful posts coming your way this year! Keep coming back to my blog. Have a wonderful year ahead! 🙂

But the Bollywood fans too miss him I guess! Check it out here .   UPDATE: The video was deleted mostly due copyright issues or something.

And Vin Diesel as always let his emotions out about his brother Pablo!

Its been two years since the tragic incident took Paul away from us. But he will stay alive in the memories of all the fans (like me)! He’ll always be in our hearts! #WeMissUPaul! #SeeYouAgain!

Rolls Royce Ghost Series II now in India!

Rolls Royce India unveiled the face-lifted Ghost Series II here on November 7, 2014. It was launched in Mumbai and ‘The Best CAR Blog Ever’ was invited to the event.

Since the launch of the Rolls Royce Ghost first in 2009, it has been the ultimate mark of success for  entrepreneurs, business people & celebrities too here in India. As a matter of fact, the Ghost has been a very successful Rolls Royce all around the world. People who buy it have been served by the Ghost as both – a business tool for the business week and an engaging driving experience for leisure during the weekends.

India is one of the top 5 markets in Asia-Pacific for the Rolls Royce Ghost. It is also an important market, which is significant from the fact that Rolls Royce has five dealerships across the country, a big number for a super luxury car maker. The India-bound Ghosts are also the most Bespoke in the world with most having some or the other made-to-order content.

Sven Ritter, General Manager for Rolls Royce Motor Cars Asia-Pacific, who unveiled the car along with Mr Sharad Kachalia of Navnit Motors, explained, “In Ghost Series II, customers will find the same level of exclusivity, quality and perfection that is quintessentially Rolls Royce. Ghost has been the leading choice in India.”

The new Ghost is majorly a face-lift on the front, with noticeable changes on the exterior and a few updates on the interior, while the rear and the engine continue from the earlier Ghost.

Here is a comprehensive list of changes/updates on the Rolls Royce Ghost Series II:

  • Redesigned LED headlights framed by Day-time Running Lights (DRL)
  • Re-sculptured bumper that gives a wider and dynamic stance
  • A new bonnet design that features tapered ‘wake channel’ (see the photo)
  • New paint and wheel options.
  • Redesigned front seats which includes electronically adjustable thigh supports and depth adjustment.
  • Rear seats have been slightly re-angled to augment easy communication with fellow passengers.
  • Suspension enhancements
  • Satellite Aided Transmission as standard – it uses GPS and mapping data to make sure that the car is always in the correct gear when negotiating turns, motorway exits and roundabouts.
  • New optional 21-inch forged wheels and standard 19-inch wheels
  • Bespoke Audio – finest hardware and latest connectivity options in an exhaustively designed automotive hi-fi system.

The Ghost Series II comes with the 8-speed ZF gearbox and continues with the same engine as the earlier Ghost: the 6.6 litre twin-turbo V12 engine generating a Max Power of 563bhp @ 5250rpm and Max Torque of 780Nm @ 1500rpm. It can do an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

There are two variants that are available of the Ghost Series II: Standard Wheel Base and Extended Wheel Base.

Here are the pictures from the event without much ado:

Here is the video of the unveiling:

Here are some photos from after the unveiling:

Last but not the least is the price of the beautiful beast! Rs 4.50 Crore Ex-Showroom (pan India).

Mercedes Benz India lauched A-Class & B-Class #Edition1

Limited Editions are the best ways to #CelebrateSuccess . Taking these words seriously, Mercedes Benz India launched the A-Class #Edition1 & the B-Class #Edition1 on June 25, 2014.

Mercedes A-Class & B-Class Edition1 Launch Event
Mercedes A-Class & B-Class Edition1 Launch Event

Lets get to know the A-Class #Edition1 first.

The A-Class #Edition1 is based on the current A-180 CDI, with a few exterior and many interior changes (rather, additions). Exterior changes include:

  • New alloys
  • Edition1 Decals (Stickers, developed in India and not available on overseas #Edition1 cars)
  • Gloss black finish on the Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs)
  • A new Panaromic Sunroof

The most important change is the revised Ground Clearance, which is a result of feedback from the customers who bought the A-Class.

On the inside, a number of features are added:

  • Electrical seat adjustment for the passenger seat
  • Reverse Camera
  • An armrest for the rear passengers
  • Edition1 badge on the inside (near the sunroof button).

The engine is the same as the standard A-Class : 2.2Litre Diesel engine, which produces 109bhp & 250Nm of torque, mated with the 7G-Tronic Automatic Gearbox.

The B-Class #Edition1

The B-Class still has no competition in the market, because when it was launched back in September 2012, it created a segment of its own – “Compact Sports Tourer”.

The B-Class #Edition1 has similar exterior changes like its smaller sibling, the A-Class #Edition1:

  • New 17-inch alloys
  • Revised Ground Clearance
  • Gloss black finish on the ORVMs (Exterior Mirror Housing)

Additions on the inside are also the same as the A-Class #Edition1:

  • Rear passenger seat center armrest (with Two cup-holders)
  • Entertainment package (includes the two LCD screens, DVD drive, headphones and remote control)
  • Edition1 badge
  • Reverse Camera

Both the cars are available in three colors: Cirrus White, Polar Silver and Jupiter Red (which is a NEW color for the B-Class). Only diesel variants of the #Edition1 are available.

The A-Class #Edition1 is priced at Rs 26.17 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), while the B-Class #Edition1 is priced at Rs 28.7 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).

If all the above features excite you and you really like the A-Class or the B-Class, go buy them NOW! Only 100 A-Class #Edition1 and 100 B-Class #Edition1 will be available. (Remember, I told you they were “Limited” Editions!).

Let me know in the Comments if these Cars have impressed you and if you will actually buy one of them and why. Looking forward to your views.
